How to Change Oil by Yourself – Step by Step
The following article will describe how to change the oil in your 2013 Hyundai Elantra. It is not a difficult process if you follow these instructions carefully. You can save yourself some money by doing it yourself, and this article will help you get started!
Step 1.
Let’s change the oil on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. If there’s not enough clearance for you, you should jack up the car. Position the jack under a jack point or a body rail. And for safety always use a jack stand when you’re lifting a car. Let’s go to the top of the engine number remove the oil cap. This will help the oil drain better.
Step 2.
Here’s some of the tools and supplies we’ll need: new oil, an oil filter, socket, oil pan, and an oil filter wrench. Let’s go under the car and find the oil drain plug and we’ll put the oil pan under the drain plug. Now we’ll use a socket wrench and a 17 millimeter socket and will loosen the oil drain plug. You can use a longer socket wrench if the oil drain plug is difficult to remove. When the oil plug is loose, remove it by hand and let the oil drain into the oil drain pan. You can let the oil drain for approximately five minutes let’s lower the car to make sure most of the oil drains out of the engine.
Step 3.
Let’s lift the car again and we’ll go under the engine and we’ll replace the oil drain plug. We’ll use our socket wrench again and we’ll tighten the oil drain plug. Do not over tighten the oil drain plug as this could damage the oil pan.
Step 4.
Now let’s find the oil filter at the bottom of the engine. The oil filter is easily accessible at the right front of the engine. The oil filter is a spin on type and it’s available at most auto parts stores. Let’s get her oil filter wrench and we’ll loosen the oil filter turn the wrench counterclockwise and loosen the oil filter by hand.
