How to Change Oil by Yourself – Step by Step

The Subaru Impreza is a car that has been loved by many drivers. It’s easy to maintain and doesn’t require much effort, so it’s perfect for those who are looking for something simple. However, the oil needs to be changed every 5,000 miles or less depending on how you drive your vehicle. This blog post will show you how to change your oil yourself in just few steps!

Step 1.

Let’s get it going. First thing we’re going to do is get this on the lift. So actually, for a lift, we’re going to use this right around.

And to change the oil in a Subaru or any other car for that matter, we need to identify four things before starting with the oil filter is and on this car, it’s super easy. We need to know where the dipstick is. And we need to know where the oil intake is. In the fourth one, we need to know where the oil drain plug is. And the first and the most important thing we need to identify with oil intake is not the drain like we always start with intake, we want to make sure that we can open get to it, open it and be able to get new oil once we drain the whole thing.

Step 2.

Now get to a drain plug. Let’s get this. The easiest way to find a drain plug in a Subaru is you start with the with the middle of the car where the license plate the front license plate is and you draw a line straight in the center. And you find your your drain plug in would be the first opening here. And your drain plug is here and it is 17 millimeters.

Firstly, we’re going to break this open like this. We’re going to get the oil tray ready to gauge the oil. And slowly applying the inward pressure, unscrew the plug and even can lift the tray and you’ll feel it’s kind of hot. So have to be careful. We ran the car just a little bit. And one quick motion to cage the whole thing and nothing is filled. Alright, and we’re gonna let it drain all the way. And we’re gonna proceed to the top of the car. The drain plugs out and it’s draining. To end to get a drain faster, we want to undo the oil cap.

Step 3.

And also we want to pull the dipstick out just a little bit. And now it’s going much faster. All right, so while this whole thing is raining, we can take care of the oil filter.

There are claims that you can actually do remove it by hand. You can have a little tool from craftsmen. It’s oil filter removal to adjustable oil filter removal. Then we remove the rest by hand all the way.

We want to clean this up a little bit just to make sure there’s no debris or dirt. And this is all it takes. So next we’re going to prep the oil filter. We got this synthetic oil, it is 0W-20, this is what this car requires.

All that’s left to do is actually pour some oil inside the oil filter. And make sure to get some oil on this rubber gasket. And this will guarantee that the oil filter will not cease to the engine next time we want to remove it.

Now we’re going to install the drain plug. So we’re just going to reinstall it.

Step 4.

Alright, and the next step is to fill this car with oil. And the only thing we’re going to need is this funnel. So let’s do this.

Step 5.

Now we’re gonna drive off the ramps super carefully and slow. Let’s check the oil one last time. And it’s right below the full mark.

Alright, so that is it. That’s how we change the engine oil in this Subaru.
