Before changing oil in your 2016 Chevy Cruze read the owner’s manual first. Doing so will provide you with all the information you need to know about your vehicle’s oil requirements. If you don’t have an owner’s manual, check online or at a local library for one that covers your car or truck.

There are three basic types of 2016 Chevy Cruze oil: conventional, high mileage and synthetic blend. The difference between conventional oil, high mileage oil and synthetic blend is the amount of wear protection they offer your engine. Conventional oil offers less wear protection, but maintains its viscosity better in extreme temperatures. High mile oils reduce the volatility to prevent evaporation at high miles resulting in thickening. Synthetic blend combines elements of conventional and high mileage oil.

The 2016 Chevy Cruze takes synthetic motor oil, 5W-30. SAE 5W-30 is recommended for all weather. If you are consistently driving in temperatures below -20 it is recommended to use 0W-30.
