How to Change Oil by Yourself – Step by Step
The information in this article should help anyone who owns a 2016 Chevy Cruze get their vehicle serviced without ever having to leave home. Changing oil by yourself can seem daunting at first, but this step-by-step guide will show you how easy it really is!
Step 1.
First thing you’re gonna want to do is lift up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands. We’re going to use a size 10 millimeter socket to loosen up the drain plug. Have your oil, catch pen ready.
Step 2.
Start removing the drain plug. So, you broke it loose. Now we’re gonna go ahead and take this dream bolt off. Now we’re able to remove the drain plug and let all of the oil fall out. Let all of the oil drain out. All right, perfect time you get a shop towel and clean up this boat. And once the oil completely drains out, we’ll wipe it with a rag and plug it up. Let’s go ahead and clean it up and plug it back up. Go ahead and tie this down. No need to over tighten it.
Step 3.
So, we have it lined up and go ahead and open the hood up. And we’re going to use a size 24 millimeter socket to loosen the filter. You can use a half inch ratchet so it’s pretty big. Now let’s go ahead and remove the cap.
Now we’re going to replace the filter. Let’s go ahead and clean the surface outs before we install the new oil filter, the scrap a little bit of new oil. And we’ll put her on the new seal. Put this back in here and secured into place. All right, now we’re going to use the 24 millimeter socket to tie that back down. And just make sure you have a nice good seal down at the bottom. You fill it when it stops to turn.

Now let’s go ahead and add our oil to the motor. We’ll drain it all the way to here.

Trip and Options. Under Options. We’re going to use these arrows up and down to scroll into the oil life. Once we scroll on there, we’re gonna hold down the reset or set and clear.
